Happy September (belated)

I've been back in NZ for 6 weeks now, and along with the weather, my writing output is starting to improve. I've gone from one sentence to five chapters in a couple of weeks, so time to stop and take a breath.

This weekend is a busy one for me. I'm attending a writers event in Rotorua called "Kupu". Its focus is on Māori writing, and the speakers I'm keen to hear are J.P.Pomare and Dr Monty Soutar. On the Saturday night I'm driving from there to Hamilton to a show called "Piaf: The Legend", featuring Mandy Meadows, a local entertainer who has done very well here and overseas.

The following weekend on the Sunday I'm going with two friends to Maketu to an afternoon of literary entertainment called "Te Kimi Kupu". The speakers are Kiri Mohi, Stacey Morrison, Annie Rae Te Ake Ake and Brian Potiki. Should be good. Hopefully I get back in time to meet the family who are arriving from Brisbane that evening!

On the subject of family arrivals, to make room I had to move my office into the bedroom, and I love it! I see so much more of the local neighbourhood activity, and still get a glimpse of the racecourse. Winning!
